Music Midtown: T-Minus 1 Week and counting…..

MUSIC MIDTOWN is this WEEKEND! I am so excited that we decided to get tickets, book a hotel room, and set off on another adventure. Yes, school is crazy for hubby and I, not to mention our already busy full-time jobs….BUT sometimes you just gotta let your hair down and live a little (and I like to live…a lot…)!d\

I am excited about getting to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Imagine Dragons, and a few others! I originally didn’t know how I would feel about going at 30 weeks pregnant…but I can honestly say that I am so glad we went a head and booked those tickets. Baby Addie kicks a lot, but I don’t mind her poking out of my midsection like a big basketball ball all that much. (Knock on wood…), I have had a pretty easy going pregnancy thus far, so I am looking forward to the last few months going forward in the same direction.

For those of you who are worried…I plan on getting in plenty of fluids, eating some low sodium foods to cut down on swelling, and bringing a blanket to lay down at the grass at the back of the park where the concerts are being held in order to rest for a while!

And don’t worry….there will be pictures to come! 🙂

Glucose Test and Good Times

Last night I was already feeling grumpy because I knew that I would have to fast until noon in order to take my lovely glucose test. Not to mention that in addition to the glucose test blood work, I would also be receiving my rhogam shot because I have a negative blood type. All in all, you could say that I was thrilled….

Looking back on the day however, it wasn’t all that bad. I was able to take it all in stride and got a very good report from the doctor. Baby Addie and I are doing well and the doctor is pleased with our progress…so yay!! To celebrate one of my very best bestie came and had a visit that was long overdue. We ate the BEST macaroons in Savannah, feasted on their cuisine, explored some local consignment shops, and bought the last of Addie’s nursery decor at Target. The evening has been capped off with Subway night (a new tradition apparently since it is Subtember this month), a trip to the library, and a nice warm bath. Does it get any better than this??

Wish I Were There Wednesday: Doolin, Ireland

All of the rain here in South Georgia has got me thinking about our stay on the Emerald Isle. In 2009 Hubby and I spent a week traveling across the country wondering as many narrow roads and footpaths as possible to see the beauty that was/is Ireland. One of our favorite little spots was the town of Doolin. We stayed at a beautiful B&B, ate great food, and listened to traditional pub music (which is supposed to have originated in the town many years ago!) I hope that we will have a chance in about six years to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and relive these great memories once more.

3rd Trimester Bump Present

After a long Monday (which included locking myself out of my house at 6:30am, a 3 hour meeting after a full day of work, and a mini panic attack from all of the grad school work that I have upcoming…) it was so sweet to come home to this little package at my door. I do have the best friends/support group a gal could ask for! Thanks Tori for the pretty earrings!! I love them and you! Thank God for good friends!

Happy Grandparent’s Day

My grandparents have been some of the most influential people in my life. I have seen them face challenges and adversity with strength that could only have been from God. I have seen them show kindness and respect towards others, play make believe and makeup makeovers, work hard even when there was no boss looking, play games with the kids when all the other “grown-ups” just want to watch TV, dance on hotel beds and laugh louder than anyone else in the room, sacrifice for the sake of others, forgive unforgivable people, and love me unconditionally. I am so very thankful that God chose me to be your granddaughter.

Love you Granda, Granny Faye, Papa, and Granny Layne!

Totally Impractical Baby List

This week marks the beginning of an adventure into the unknown world of the THIRD TRIMESTER!!! On one hand I can’t believe how fast the past six months have flown by, however the thought of being pregnant for another three months seems a bit daunting! Everyone I know keeps telling my how hard it is, and much I am going to hate it….it seems pretty hard to stay positive with those kind of comments, but I am going to try my best.

Baby Updates

-Holy baby bump!? (It seems that Baby Addie has decided to announce herself to the world and overnight I have a basketball underneath my t-shirt!)

-I get my shots, glucose test, and more blood work next week 😦

-We are debating about whether we want to go to the child birth classes at the hospital or not…(can’t I just youtube some information or something!!??)

-The baby room is almost complete (minus the curtains and a few decorative touches).

-I am getting excited about upcoming showers and the chance to see friends from out of town again!

-Baby Addie is kicking a lot, and if I put a flashlight up to my belly she goes crazy! She also really likes bath time (just like her mommy!)

Totally Impractical Baby List

Yes, I have read all of the best baby blogs and books on what to buy for your baby at different stages and etc… But this list isn’t about practicality, it is just about fun. Hubby and I have done very well ( I think) over the past few months. We have resisted the urge to by the baby a single article of clothing, because it seems like there are much more practical items that need to be acquired before we venture into the world of pink tutu’s and “Daddy’s Little Girl” onesies. I am sure that this baby will have a better wardrobe than me before it is all said and done. However, with the baby almost here, I have decided to cut myself some slack and allow myself to look at all the adorable little baby shops on Etsy and I think over the past few weeks I have added dozens of items to my “favorites” list. Yes, these are pretty impractical baby items, and are certainly not considered necessities…but aren’t they fun!?

23 Travel Hacks that would make your trip more enjoyable

Great travel tips!!!

Evan's avatarThe Travel Monster

Traveling has become a pastime or hobby of millions of people around the world; and of course when you do traveling, you want it to be hassle free since you do traveling mostly to have a relief from everyday stresses. It would not be a good memory and experience if something bad came up in your adventure, like for example you lost your passport, lost something valuable along the way, and worst, you faced legal action in a foreign country. Here are some tips I’ve read from life hack.org which I think would be very helpful to travelers around the world!

Wish I Were There Wednesday….BONAIRE!

A few years ago, Waring and I had the opportunity to travel to a GORGEOUS island next to Aruba and Curacao. Unless you a are diver or windsurfer, you have probably never heard about this little of piece of paradise. This island is home to pristine coral beaches and has arguably the best coral reef habitat on this side of the globe. We know divers who claim that this little island has better dive sites than the Great Barrier Reef. (It’s not that I don’t trust them….but I would like to see the Barrier Reef myself one day and make the judgment for myself.)

Once you are on the island, you can check into one of the many dive resorts on the island and pick up your rental truck. After a quick check out dive they give you unlimited air or nitrox and you are free to roam the island looking for great diving spots. Each dive site entrance is marked by a yellow stone with the site’s name written on it. You walk to the ocean and swim a few meters out the reef and embark on an adventure under the sea.

Take a look at the awesomeness that is Bonaire!

Labor Day Weekend Camping

We made it back from our Camping Adventure Weekend in one piece. The camper has been unpacked, clothes are in the washer, the house has spruced up, and the bathrooms have been cleaned. As the workday looms near, the only remnants left of this weekend are the pictures and memories that we have made. This weekend reminded me that sometimes a little bit of nature can go a long way to ease the stress of every day life. I know a lot of people travel in order to escape something in their life, or to hide from a problem that just won’t go away, but for me travel is more about connecting with the ones that I love and seeing new sights and new perspectives. I hope the thrill of the unknown and adventure always excite me just as much as it does today!
